The Arizona Parents Commission on Drug Education and Prevention Grant

The Parents Commission’s mandate is to increase and enhance parental involvement, and increase education about the serious risks and public health problems caused by the abuse of alcohol and controlled substances. In making such grants and contracts, the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families shall only fund programs that increase and/or enhance parental involvement and have a focus in one or more of the following areas: 1) Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention, 2) Underage Drinking Prevention, 3) Marijuana/Synthetic Marijuana Abuse Prevention, 4) Methamphetamine Abuse Prevention, or 5) Parent Education Program (must include a substance abuse prevention component)

Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) Grant

Supports effective programs that: prevent violence in and around schools, prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs, involve parents and communities and are coordinated with related Federal, State, school, and community efforts and resources to foster a safe and drug-free learning environment.

Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) program

 The JABG (formerly JAIBG) program provides essential funds to local units of government and statewide agencies to facilitate improvements to the juvenile justice system and to ensure increased accountability for juvenile offenders. 

Throughout Arizona, JABG funds have supported successful local programs including:  community service and restitution programming, juvenile court services and safe schools programs as well as technology enhancements and information-sharing projects.
