Connecting Community Needs with Resources
Schools are the institutions
neighborhoods rely on to educate their children. Neighborhood
leaders and residents, students, parents, businesses,
churches, and other community stakeholders trust that
schools will prepare students to be
tomorrow's thought leaders.
Schools have the unique
opportunity to set high achievable standards for themselves, the
students they teach, and the parents of each child. The level
of moral, social, and educational standards set by the school
creates the criteria by which students and parents are expected to
achieve success.
Research shows that when schools are effective at engaging their community, creating an environment filled with high expectations and a commitment to excellence, children become more productive and have a greater capacity to internalize the information when it is made relevant to their lives.
This community-school relationship has the ability to effectively draw in parents, engage students, and create a culture of shared responsibility amongst all stakeholders in order to hold everyone accountable for a child's educational success.
