Connecting Community Needs with Resources

Planning Strategies

Every neighborhood in Tucson has the ability to improve its social and economic environment. To do so, its leaders, residents, schools, businesses, and churches must work together to create a strategic plan for desired outcomes. To improve current neighborhood conditions, strategic planning is a consequential first step.

The good news is that every neighborhood in Tucson has some available resources by which to achieve its desired objectives. Nonprofits, funders, and investors are vital resources that must be engaged in the planning and implementation process. However, neighborhood leaders, residents, schools, businesses and churches must start the process and engage these other resources as necessary.

Included in this section are planning strategies designed to increase the level of empowerment for neighborhoods. They include information from multiple credible sources such as universities, professional nonprofit organizations as well as research and best practice materials. We have also included a link to search Google Scholar for research information.
