Connecting Community Needs with Resources
Neighborhood leaders and residents can help increase resident's health in their
neighborhoods through offering healthy lifestyle initiatives such as health awareness trainings and health clinic service programs. These programs are
categorized according to the area by which they provide services. Organizations may offer different programs in multiple areas.
The main thing to keep in mind is that programs should address one or more of the stated indicators (below).
Health Awareness Training
This program area employs programs such as running, bicycling, aerobics, sports, etc.that engage youth and adults in living a healthy lifestyle and learning activities that can be employed to help them live an active lifestyle. These types of programs should address indicators such as: 1) Teen pregnancy, 2) Uninsured births
Health Clinic Services
This program area utilizes programs that provide health information and screening services to residents in a target community through quality health care and healthy lifestyle education workshops and activities. These types of programs should address indicators such as: 1) Amount of people on ACCCHS, 2) Medicare, 3) Primary Care Area (PCA) Score, 4) Sliding fee clinics/School based clinics, 5) Teen pregnancy, 6) Uninsured, 7) Uninsured <18, 8) Uninsured births

The mission of STANDUP FOR KIDS is to help homeless and street kids. Tanque Verde Extended Care Program offers excellent ratios and a place where youth can practice, fail and learn. We encourage their development of positive character traits, and build relationships with their families. Our funding is primarily parent fees and our non-profit is small but community oriented. Our agency also serves as the coordinators of Tanque Verde Community Schools.
