Connecting Community Needs with Resources
Funders are strategic partners in the effort of neighborhood empowerment. They are relied upon to provide financial support for programs and activities within
neighborhoods. As neighborhood leaders and
residents, schools, and churches create strategies to address
neighborhood challenges, funders serve as the financial catalyst by
which those activities, projects and programs are designed,
implemented and managed.
In general, funders are classified into various categories, they can include individual donors, corporate donors, government grantors and foundations. Each institution has a unique identity and scope of activities, projects and programs they are interested in funding. It is important to remember that funders are not removed entities who simply fund a good idea, they are active partners in an effort to solve specific problems/issues/challenges within communities.
