Funders are strategic partners in the effort of neighborhood empowerment. They are relied upon to provide financial support for programs and activities within neighborhoods. As neighborhood leaders and residents, schools, and churches create strategies to address neighborhood challenges, funders serve as the financial catalyst by which those activities, projects and programs are designed, implemented and managed. |

In general, funders are classified into various categories, they can include individual donors, corporate donors, government grantors and foundations. Each institution has a unique identity and scope of activities, projects and programs they are interested in funding. It is important to remember that funders are not removed entities who simply fund a good idea, they are active partners in an effort to solve specific problems/issues/challenges within communities.
